I have an eReader installed in my Palm Tungsten E2. Now I don’t know what format of ebooks my palm can read. Any advice on what kind of ebooks my palm can read?

I am really sick of carrying my college textbooks. When is the ebook industry going to create better technology. The Sony Ereader and the Amazon Kindle are crap so where are the better ones?
What keywords to type? whenever i have tried it is in the LIT format which is not accepted by my pc. Please tell me soon. I’ll give all of you’ll 5 stars.
I am an avid reader of ebooks and once, I downloaded a lot of books which were in .lit format, but I couldn’t open them. If any special software needs to be installed, pls give me a link to download that. I have latest WINDOWS XP 2005
