I know some websites that offer them but how do I get them on my actual device?

Going travelling to South America soon and dont want to carry 5 thick travel guide books with me. Anyone know if i can get travel guide books in eBook form? Dont care what format, might just buy the reader that supports the format thats most abundant. eReader, iPod, smartphone, etc. Dont even know whats out there since never looked into eBooks before.

This fanfiction site has eBooks file or something, and I can’t read them. I tried downloading eReader from eReader. com to see if that would help but I can’t use eReader bacouse I’m missing some program or something about window.
If anyone can understand my confuesing question, can you help me out!
I am willing to pay for an e-book, but not 20.85 for a digital copy of the book! I would like to find popular eBooks for teens with prices below $5. I have looked at amazon.com, ereader.com, fictionwise.com, borders.com, and barnesnoble.com and all of them have ridiculous prices for ebooks! Please help
